Vice-Chair of the Caribbean Network of Chambers (CARICHAM) Petipha Lewis paid a courtesy visit to the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) on 18 May 2023.
This visit, which forms part of CARICHAM’s ongoing efforts to promote the interests of Caribbean Chambers of Commerce, focused on crucial matters such as trade facilitation, collaboration, and business resilience.
During her meeting with the GCCI, Lewis engaged in productive discussions with Edison Jefford, Executive Director; Kester Hutson, President; and Ambika Ramraj, Operational Manager. They explored various avenues to enhance trade facilitation within the Caribbean region and foster business resilience in light of evolving global challenges. Lewis emphasised the importance of collaboration among regional chambers of commerce to create an environment conducive to growth and sustainable economic development.
Lewis stated, “I am delighted to have had the opportunity to meet with the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Our discussions have reinforced the significance of trade facilitation in driving economic progress and resilience, especially in these uncertain times. CARICHAM remains committed to working hand in hand with the GCCI and other regional chambers to foster a business-friendly environment that will benefit the entire Caribbean community.”
Hutson shared his thoughts on Lewis’s visit to Georgetown, which further solidifies the bond between CARICHAM and the GCCI and reaffirmed his commitment to working with CARICHAM to ensure food security and increased trade within the Caribbean. “Together, we will continue to pursue initiatives that drive innovation and economic progress for the benefit of our members and the entire Caribbean region.”
