The Grenada Tourism Authority (GTA) is pleased to announce the appointment of its new 11–member board of directors, with tourism developer and entrepreneur Barry Collymore serving as the new chairman.
The new executive body became official on 1 November, with the mandate to build and execute a revamped tourism framework that will competitively position Pure Grenada with target audiences.
Minister of Tourism, Civil Aviation, Climate Resilience and the Environment, Hon. Dr Clarice Modeste-Curwen, expressed her pleasure with the new appointments: “I wish to congratulate the Chairman and his team on their new position as Directors of the GTA. The entire executive body not only represents all of Pure Grenada’s key industry sectors, but also brings a wealth of experience in the tourism industry and knowledge of the Pure Grenada product to the table. I am confident that they will be able to tackle the job at hand as we look to once again bring our industry back to a place of sustainability.”

In commenting on the Board the new Chairman stated, “The Grenada Tourism Authority is being asked to restart an industry which has been crippled by the pandemic. The challenge before us could not be greater, and there is a need for a well-coordinated, innovative and thoughtful plan. For the sake of all tourism workers and their families who have been affected by this pandemic, and our guests who can no longer travel, we have to ensure that our plan is executed flawlessly. As one of our first orders of business, the Board has decided to restructure so Directors serve on a volunteer basis for their respective terms. This shows not only a commitment to the task at hand, but a message of solidarity to everyone in the sector affected by this crisis. We will prevail and come out stronger. Our protocols instituted by the Ministry of Health, have kept case rates in Grenada extremely low and this will ensure an even faster rebound for the sector,” said the Chairman.
Tourism Minister Hon. Dr Clarice Modeste-Curwen has sent thank you letters to the outgoing board, commending them for their service. “We thank the outgoing board members for their exceptional support during what has been a challenging year in 2020, after two record-breaking years in 2018 and 2019,” the Minister noted.

Usually I do not comment on social media however I will like the ones that are talking agriculture to take a practical look at Grenada where we are now and ask yourself a few questions like: what is needed to improve agriculture development? Is it the lack of lands, funds, equipment, or man power? People this is 2020 and this country have developed in infrastructure like never before. We have roads, electricity and water in every village . The government have been providing incentive for young farmers for years yet we are still singing put more interest in agriculture. What we need is Human Resources! The older people don’t want to give up the lands to the young ones that are interested in working, the ones who talks does nothing (some of them don’t even have a kitchen garden)to improve the situation. So what’s wrong with a backup plan? Tourism is needed in every country people have to keep moving. What I will suggest is that we manage the sector better. Develop our locallll sites to collect revenue e.g. Grand Etang should have more activities even for locals on weekends. Lease the sites to more locals for development. I will like five persons to post at least one idear as how we can make agriculture and tourism work for the good of this blessed country..
shut it with the propaganda. John Thomas and Anansi arepropagandists willing to shut down the tourism industry which is not good. just letting ya know. tourists not spreading it but the returning nationals going around spreading covid like wildfire. TOURISM IS GOOD! 🙂 AND THIS COUNTRY IS OPEN TO FORIENGERS. Just like we travel to other countries. People travel to Grenada too!! Like I mean cmon!!!!! No one is willing to do Agriculture and will never do it!!!!! We will be driving older cars and we will be living in older homes. Agriculcture= little to no benefit.
COVID 19 CASES ARE REPORTED TO BE BLACK AFRICAN GRENDIANS BIRNGING IT IN!!! SO SHUT IT WITH YOUR PROPAGANDA. EVERYTHING THAT HAS TO DO WITH FOREIGN IS YOU SAME PEOPLE WITH PROPAGANDA! SO GO OUT THERE AND DO SOMETHING! YOU MAY ASWELL OPEN UP YOUR OWN 5 STAR LUXURY HOTEL INSTEAD OF COMPLAINING!!!!!! The Government will shut you down and ban you from travelling if you continue with this behaviour! dont be part of the problem but solution!
I wonder when we will stop going down this road to no where?
Seriously, these people need to wake up.
Open tourism = enter COVID-19 again.
