On the advice of the Ministry of Health, Cabinet has granted approval to the Ministry of Education, Human Resource Development, Religious Affairs and Information to remove the physical distancing arrangements in classrooms.
However, all other existing protocols must be observed.
Over the past month the Ministry implemented a phased approach to the reopening of schools and has met expected objectives.
During this period, some schools were able to accommodate all students every day while others, based on their school-specific plan and size of classrooms, were unable to do so.
Revision of the protocol now affords schools the opportunity to return to regular seating arrangements.
Based on their unique circumstances, schools are advised to work towards a return to normal scheduling of classes. A phased approach is recommended. Schools are expected to engage parents to provide information about changes to their schedules, since they will have the flexibility to phase in the return to full capacity during the course of this month.
All decisions are subject to change based on developments related to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Ministry of Education urges parents to await details from their respective principals regarding the necessary changes.

Government is full of small minded corrupt people. This is the most irresponsible decision the ministry of education has made. You cannot send children back five days a week when you have foreigners coming into the country. I am in a classroom of 38 students. NO ONE IN SCHOOLS WEAR THEIR MASKS. The Government is playing russian roulette and I swear that it will not end up very well. That is the worst thing they could ever do to let students go five days a week. HELL NAH IM NOT GOING. Grenada is a small country with a weak healthcare system. Secondary schools have a minimum of 300 or more students. What do you think will happen when students dont wear their MASKS and social distance. By then schools will have to shut down. May god guide and protect this country from this evil and wicked Chinese virus.
I just you finish paying for your house so the bank will not take it.
Not every one so luck, It’s we and the bank house
It’s because the tablets are a sh.tshow
I am very concerned that the Ministry of Health would advise the Ministry of Education to send our children back to crowded classrooms.
The Ministry of Education could have refused the advice, but clearly if the health experts saying it’s OK, then why not?
In recent weeks I observed a purely illogical and counter intuitive response by the Nation’s Health Ministry regarding ‘easement’ of the COVID-19 regulations.
Yes, the economy is suffering. Yes, people are suffering.
We have life and health! What are more precious?
When I look at the evidence, there is nothing about it that says we are out of the woods with this pandemic – not even Trump’s victory over the virus.
It has been months since our last active COVID-19 case, so as usual we up and think “God is a Grenadian” – our go to phase when we’ve been spared or want license to act recklessly.
God is a Grenadian, so why not give buses the green light to resume business at full passenger capacity – you can’t physically distance and not everybody wearing.
God is a Grenadian, so why not send our children back to school as normal – no physical distance not everyone will wear mask or wear mask properly. Big people not doing it, you think children will do it?
God is a Grenadian, so why not make major decisions life and death decisions less than 15 days since we’ve reopened our borders to high-risk countries with only a 5-day quarantine. NY and other US states experiencing a spike in COVID-19 cases.
God is a Grenadian, so our health sector can handle a COVID-19 outbreak on top of a dengue outbreak.
God is a Grenadian, so our health sector and our citizenry can handle a COVID-19 outbreak on top of a dengue outbreak, on top of a hurricane.
God is a Grenadian, so we don’t need to scale-up post haste, our food security program and get serious about agriculture, agribusiness, and agro-processing.
God is a Grenadian, so we don’t need to accept that in this climate the tourism industry is fragile, and that life is even more fragile.
The Ministry of Health is NOT in the business of the economy.
The Ministry of Health is in the business of preserving health and life – Point Blank!
The Health of the Nation is the Wealth of the Nation, not the other way around.
I appreciate that Government is between a rock and a hard place, but we need to make better decisions – Point Blank!
The people at the helm of the Ministry are not dunce, they’re a bunch of bright fellas, but they need to remember that their allegiance is to the people of country.
WE THE PEOPLE DEMAND BETTER than what YOU are giving us right now!
It feels like the fellas at the helm setting us up for a rough time with this fast and loose decision making.
Take some time to see what the border reopening really means for us – how many flights have come in from medium and high-risk countries? How many people have arrived?
There is insufficient data to make the kinds of decisions you’re making about ALL OF OUR LIVES, including your own families.
Me and my house will continue to stay at home unless it is absolutely necessary to go out.
Me and my house will continue to wear a mask covering our mouths and noses when we go out.
Me and my house will continue to wear to wash our hands regularly for at least 40 seconds, yes 40 – we’re a cautious household.
Me and my house will continue to take a thorough shower when we get home from being out.
Me and my house will turn away from the beach if there are more than a handful of people there.
Me and my house will drink a lot of water; eat a lot of fruits and vegetables; and try to boost of immune system.
Me and my house will connect regularly with love ones via WhatsApp to preserve our mental health.
I invite you join me and my house as we try to stay healthy and COVID-19 Free for the sake of the country!
Invite the Ministry of Education to reverse this decision and stand up for our of our children, including those who are suffering at the hands of CXC.
Well said. I agree fully.
