Additional calls to Pure Grenada by Carnival Fascination have been cancelled for the rest of 2017. That’s according to information coming from the major cruise line.
The calls which were diverted to Grenada following the impact of Hurricanes Irma and Maria in the Northern Caribbean have been cancelled due to Carnival Fascination being chartered by the United States’ Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for a 4-month stint. The ship will be used to house relief personnel working in the US Virgin Islands to assist in the recovery process.
Calls from 15 October 2017 through to 28 January 2018 will be cancelled. According to Carnival.com, Carnival Fascination will return to year-round service from San Juan beginning 18 February 2018. Pure Grenada was expecting more than 10 additional calls from Carnival Fascination. However, the upcoming winter cruise ship season is already showing very strong projected growth of 27% over the previous season even with the current cancellations. Additional calls are also expected from Costa Cruises, P&O, Seabourn Cruise Lines, Wind Star and MSC Cruises.
