President of the Grenada Union of Teachers (GUT), Lydon Lewis embarked on a personal initiative ‘Project Bag Pack,’ to assist 2 students from each of the 13 primary schools in St Andrew who were successful in the 2017 CPEA.
According to Lewis, it was neither an easy nor cheap task, but with the help of persons in the diaspora and the community, he was able to pull it off. “It is something I feel proud to do,” he said, as it will clearly impact the lives of students who need it most. Lewis believes that this is an important way to show appreciation to the community members.
The project’s total cost is EC$4500. Each of the bag packs include a geometry set, a scientific calculator, stationery and school supplies. $1000 was donated and the rest came from Lewis’ personal account. He expressed sincerest thanks to everyone who assisted with the venture.
