As part of the National Lotteries Authority’s (NLA) support towards sporting organisations, 32 schools have benefitted through the NLA’s donations of medals and trophies for their various sports meets, thus far.
4 Secondary Schools, 27 Primary Schools and 1 Special Education school were provided with sets of medals or trophies to assist with awarding athletes for their achievements in track & field.
Representatives from the schools, namely: Anglican High School, Westerhall Secondary School, St Rose Modern Secondary School, Presentation Brothers College, St Joseph’s RC School, St John’s Anglican School, St Paul’s Government School, River Sallee Government School, Mt Moritz Anglican School, St George’s Anglican Junior School, Grenada Junior Academy, South-St George Government School, Grenada Seventh-Day Adventist Comprehensive School, Concord Government School, L’Esterre Rosary School, St Joseph’s RC School, St George’s Anglican Senior School, St Patrick’s RC School, Dover Government School, St Dominic’s RC School, St Peter’s RC School, St George’s Methodist School, Grand Roy Government School, St David’s RC School, Blessed Sacrament, Alpha Junior School, St Mary’s Junior School, First Choice Junior School, Little Roses Centre, Rose Hill Infant School, Kids Are Wonderful Pre-School and St Andrew’s School for Special Education collected the awards at the NLA’s Main Office on the Carenage during the sports season, as their meets are rolled out.
NLA’s General Manager – Mr Geoffrey Gilbert, at one of these handovers, said, “The NLA is pleased to see the excitement and sheer appreciation on the faces of the principals, teachers and students — in some cases. It is clear that the tokens are very much appreciated. It is a continuation of a programme which we have been implementing for a number of years now, and one which we are very proud of”.
The various recipients thanked the NLA, and expressed that they look forward to the support every year.
