Road Town, Tortola, VI – Grenada’s number one road runner, Reon Radix, on Saturday, 3 December, won the 11th Ogier/Deloite BVI Sunrise Half Marathon.
Radix overcame the challenge of Kalique St Jean of Antigua and Barbuda to win in a personal best time of 1 hour 20 minutes and 57 seconds to claim the title. Kalique St Jean finished the course in 1 hour 21 minutes and 24 seconds.
Reon’s win comes just 2 weeks after winning the Grenadian General Insurance Half Marathon. 3–time winner Shane DeGannes of the BVI had to settle for third place in a time of 1 hour 25 minutes and 28 seconds.
In the female category of the race, Ruth David of Tortola eclipsed her previous record to win in a time of 1 hour 30 minutes and 21 seconds, while Grenadian Kenisha Pascal finished second in a personal best time of 1 hour 32 minutes and 37 seconds.
In previous races, Radix’s has run 1 hour 24 minutes in the half marathon while Pascal had a best time of 1 hour 32 minutes.
All participants received a race medal at the finish line, while cash prizes were awarded to the overall running categories. More than 70Â runners participated in the 11th edition of the race.
