Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Dr Rt. Hon. Keith Mitchell says there are plans to consult with Trade Unions, NGOs and others, to determine the way forward as Grenada nears the end of the 3–year Structural Adjustment Programme.
A team from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) led by Ms Nicole Laframboise is currently on island, to conduct the 5th review of the country’s Homegrown Structural Adjustment Programme.
The 5th review is the penultimate of the Programme and covers the period January to June 2016.
“What aspects of the Structural Adjustment Programme should we keep, what aspect should we modify, and what aspect should we get rid of completely? Since we asked them for buy-in when we implemented, we should ask them for suggestions when we going forward,” Dr Mitchell said.
Grenada entered into the 3–year, IMF supported, Homegrown Structural Adjustment Programme in January 2014, and has so far concluded 4 successful reviews by the IMF.
