On Tuesday, 5 July, the Grenada Bar Association (GBA) elected Lady Anande Joseph as its President. She succeeds the long-serving and dedicated Ruggles Ferguson, the current President of the OECS Bar Association.
Lady Joseph, a former Solicitor General of Grenada, is joined at the GBA helm by Vice President Mr Rohan Phillip, himself a former Attorney General of Grenada.
The elections saw a surge in the participation and election of younger members of the GBA to key positions on the Executive and as Floor members. They include Ms Cathisha Williams as Secretary, Ms Jasmin Redhead as Treasurer, and Floor Members: Ms Thandiwe Lyle, Mr Sasha Courtney, Ms Sabina Gibbs, and Mr Dylan Charles.
The new Executive with its mix of experience and youthful energy has already committed to focusing on institutional strengthening and responsiveness to its members. The GBAÂ will, of course, continue its hallmark public legal education work and Law Week activities, replicated by other regional bars which have adopted the Grenada model. The GBA commits to continue playing its part as a leading civil society organization in Grenada and the region.
