“Great things are happening with our athletes, we all need to continue supporting them by whatever means possible.” So says Minister of Youth, Sport and Religious Affairs, the Hon. Emmalin Pierre on the performance over the weekend of Grenada’s Anderson Peters at the 2015 Pan American Junior Athletics Championships in Edmonton, Canada.
Peters secured a silver medal in the Javelin with a throw of 72.11 m, behind the gold medal of American Christopher Mirabelli with a throw of 72.68 m. Peters also remains the CARIFTA Champion in the event, as well as having broken several records in 2014 at Grenada’s Annual Intercol Games including Javelin, Shot Put, and Discus.
Minister Pierre also stated that with the near completion of the Grenada National Football and Athletic Stadium, we will see the rise of new athletes in all disciplines, as they will have the base from which they can improve on performances and refine their individual techniques.
Minister Pierre also takes this opportunity to extended best wishes to Grenada’s five member swim team currently at the FINA Worlds Championship in Russia.
