Sandals La Source Grenada Resort & Spa recently hosted a health symposium for staff, and will soon host a health fair with key community players.
A two-day health symposium for its employees was necessitated by the current climate of regional and global health challenges and issues. The first session held on Friday 3 October, dealt with the Chikungunya epidemic plaguing Grenada and neighbouring islands, while the second session on Friday 10 October examined the more global Ebola pandemic. Both sessions were delivered by Dr Martin Forde, Environmental Health Lecturer at the St George’s University (SGU), followed by 20 minutes of activities and question and answer segments.
General Manager Peter Fraser said the move can be seen as a proactive stance by the property to assist employees in safeguarding their health and in turn their families and communities as the knowledge will be passed on.
Further to this, Environment, Health & Safety Manager, Larissa Mark will be spearheading the first health fair hosted by Sandals LaSource in conjunction with critical community partners on Wednesday 15 October. Representation is expected from the Grenada Planned Parenthood Association, the Grenada Food and Nutrition Council, the Grenada Heart Foundation, the Central Health Initiative, the Grenada Cancer Society, the Body Image Health Club, the Ministry of Health and the Fit for Life Health Club.
