The owners of Le Phare Bleu Marina & Boutique Hotel (LPB) believe in investing in their staff, so they recently closed their doors to the public for one full day so that their entire workforce could participate in a ‘Staff Engagement Day’. This was a first-time experience for all 45 participants.
Working together in small teams which consisted of members from all departments, employees had to collectively utilise a wide range of skills, such as team work, creativity, strategy, negotiation, and problem solving, in order to solve clues along an “adventure hunt” and complete a variety of other challenges, all while racing against each other and the clock. Team building exercises such as these were designed to improve office camaraderie and communications, and to develop employees and their ability to work together more effectively.
“The success of our business is a result of a great team effort”, said Jana Caniga, co-owner of LPB. “We hope that staff days such as these will strengthen relationships and build a happy work environment where employees work together to apply their full potential and capabilities to their work.”
“Our staff are our most important asset,” concluded Caniga. “Next to the luxury of our accommodation and peaceful atmosphere set amongst award-winning tropical gardens, it’s the encounter with our passionate staff which is the ‘icing on the cake’ for our vacationing guests. It’s what makes their Grenada experience a truly memorable one.”
Employee development and team building is just one of the contributing factors behind LPB recently winning, for the second consecutive year, a TripAdvisor® Certificate of Excellence award. This accolade honours hospitality excellence, and is given only to establishments that consistently achieve outstanding traveller reviews on TripAdvisor.
