Fourteen workers at Westerhall Estate are to benefit from a 3% increase in wages effective 1 April, 2014, the result of an industrial agreement, which was signed on Tuesday 13 May between the Grenada Seamen and Waterfront Workers Union and Westerhall Estate Ltd Distillery.
The signing took place at the Ministry of Labour and will cover a three-year period. The parties agreed that an incentive bonus of a week’s pay shall be paid to each worker on or about 15 December of each year.
Drivers/Salesmen will also receive a commission of 1% on cash sales made in excess of forty thousand dollars per month.
Signing on behalf of the union was Lyle Samuel, Cyril St Louis and Megan Samuel. Ian Harford and Graham Williams inked the agreement on behalf of the company. Acting Senior Labour Officer, Reginald Lord, witnessed the signing on behalf of the Ministry.
