Social Development Minister, Hon Delma Thomas announced at Tuesday’s post Cabinet news briefing, that government will soon resume its House Repair Programme.
Minister Thomas said the delay was as a result of huge debts owed to suppliers, and government will begin making payments to those suppliers in roughly two weeks.
“The last administration has also had huge debts that we also have to look at, because you cannot ask a lumberyard to give you material, give you credit, and there is no money coming forward. So at present, we are trying to give some monies to those persons who we owe, which will happen within the next week or two. Then we will look at the restart of that programme which you will be made aware of.”
