No one was injured in a fire which ripped through the town of Gouyave (St. John) leaving five homes completely destroyed and another three partially burnt.
The fire occurred just before 11 pm on Saturday night (8 March 2014) at Edward Street.
Swift response from firefighters at the Gouyave Police Station along with the coordinated efforts of villagers quickly brought the fire under control and prevented it from spreading.
Assistance was also received from firefighters at St. George’s.
An estimate of the loss is yet to be ascertained.
Police investigations continue.
