As of Thursday 21 March 2013, a new Visa payment system went into effect at the US embassy in Barbados and worldwide.
“The new process is designed to be more convenient and user-friendly,” said the statement. The first step will now require new applicants and those seeking renewals to go online and fill out the application, the second step will be for applicants to pay via credit card, then book the appointment so that when they get to Barbados they will no longer have to pay in cash at the Embassy.
The new system, according to one US official will now take less time for the staff at the embassy to process an applicant and improve privacy. The website said that a call centre is set up to cater to persons wishing to apply for a US Visa, and operators will be able to help persons along the application process.
Call Centre representatives are available: Monday-Friday, 7:00am-9:00pm (local time)
